Calibration is the process of comparing measurements from one piece of equipment with another piece of equipment that has been calibrated and referenced to a known set of measures. The equipment used as a reference should be traceable to equipment that has been calibrated and complies with our countries National Standards (NMISA).

The purpose of Instrument calibration is to eliminate or reduce disproportionate weight in favour in an instrument's readings over a range for all continuous values.
